Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs)

Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) are hydrocarbons that are separated from natural gas in the form of liquids. They include ethane, propane, butane, isobutane, and pentane. NGLs are valuable as they can be used as feedstocks for the petrochemical industry, as well as for heating and cooking. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, NGLs are important as they can be used as rocket propellants. Propane and butane are commonly used as propellants for small rockets, while ethane and methane are being studied as potential propellants for larger rockets. NGLs are attractive as rocket propellants as they have high energy content, are relatively easy to handle, and can be stored at low pressures and temperatures.
