Redox Reactions
Redox reactions, also known as oxidation-reduction reactions, are chemical reactions that involve the transfer of electrons between two species. In these reactions, one species loses electrons (undergoes oxidation) while another species gains electrons (undergoes reduction). Redox reactions are important in space and astronautical engineering as they play a crucial role in the functioning of batteries and fuel cells, which are used to power spacecraft and satellites. Additionally, redox reactions are involved in the production of rocket propellants, such as liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen, which are used to power rockets and spacecraft engines.
