Radiative Heat Transfer

Radiative heat transfer is the process by which energy in the form of electromagnetic radiation is emitted by a surface, absorbed by another surface, and then re-emitted. In space and astronautical engineering, radiative heat transfer plays a critical role in the design and operation of spacecraft and other systems. The transfer of heat through radiation is important in the thermal control of spacecraft, as it allows for the dissipation of excess heat generated by electronic components and other systems. Radiative heat transfer is also important in the design of thermal protection systems, which are used to protect spacecraft during atmospheric re-entry. In addition, radiative heat transfer is a key factor in the study of planetary atmospheres and the Earth's climate.
