Radiation Testing

Radiation testing is the process of evaluating the effects of radiation on spacecraft and their components. This includes testing for the effects of ionizing radiation, such as gamma rays and cosmic rays, as well as non-ionizing radiation, such as ultraviolet and infrared radiation. Radiation testing is important for ensuring the reliability and safety of spacecraft, as radiation can cause damage to electronics and other materials. Radiation testing can be performed using various methods, including ground-based testing using particle accelerators and simulators, as well as in-flight testing using dosimeters and other instruments. The results of radiation testing are used to inform the design and construction of spacecraft and their components, as well as to develop mitigation strategies to minimize the effects of radiation on spacecraft.
