Orbital Mechanics

Orbital mechanics is the branch of astronautical engineering that deals with the motion of artificial satellites and space vehicles around celestial bodies. It involves the study of the forces acting on a spacecraft, such as gravity, atmospheric drag, and solar radiation pressure, and how these forces affect the spacecraft's trajectory and orbit. Orbital mechanics also includes the design and analysis of spacecraft trajectories, such as transfer orbits, rendezvous and docking maneuvers, and orbital corrections. The field of orbital mechanics is essential for the successful operation of satellites, space probes, and manned spacecraft, as it enables engineers to predict and control the motion of these vehicles in space.
