Magnetic Susceptibility

Magnetic susceptibility is a measure of the degree of magnetization of a material in response to an applied magnetic field. In space and astronautical engineering, magnetic susceptibility is an important property of materials used in spacecraft and satellites. Materials with high magnetic susceptibility can be used to shield sensitive electronic equipment from external magnetic fields. Magnetic susceptibility is also used in the design of magnetic attitude control systems for spacecraft. These systems use magnetic torquers to control the orientation of the spacecraft by interacting with the Earth's magnetic field. The magnetic susceptibility of the spacecraft's materials must be taken into account when designing these systems to ensure that they function properly.
