Magnetic Storms

Magnetic storms are disturbances in the Earth's magnetosphere caused by changes in the solar wind. These storms can cause a variety of effects on Earth, including power outages, satellite damage, and auroras. The solar wind is a stream of charged particles that flows from the Sun and interacts with the Earth's magnetic field. When the solar wind's magnetic field is opposite to the Earth's magnetic field, it can cause a buildup of energy in the magnetosphere. This energy is released in the form of magnetic storms, which can last from a few hours to several days. Magnetic storms can also be caused by coronal mass ejections (CMEs), which are large explosions on the Sun's surface that release a massive amount of energy and particles into space.
