LCDs
LCDs (Liquid Crystal Displays) are flat panel displays that use the light modulating properties of liquid crystals to display images. They are commonly used in spacecraft and satellites due to their low power consumption, lightweight, and compact size. LCDs consist of two polarizing filters with a layer of liquid crystal material in between. When an electric current is applied, the liquid crystal molecules align themselves to allow or block the passage of light, creating the desired image. LCDs have a high contrast ratio and are capable of displaying high-resolution images. They are also resistant to radiation and extreme temperatures, making them ideal for use in space applications.
