IGBTs
IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors) are semiconductor devices that combine the high-speed switching capability of MOSFETs (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors) with the high-voltage and high-current handling capabilities of bipolar junction transistors (BJTs). They are widely used in power electronics applications, including in spacecraft power systems, due to their ability to handle high power levels with high efficiency. IGBTs are used in applications such as motor drives, power supplies, and inverters, and are particularly useful in applications where high voltage and high current are required. They are also used in space applications due to their ability to operate in harsh environments, including exposure to radiation and extreme temperatures.
