Air Sampling

Air Sampling is the process of collecting and analyzing air samples from different environments to determine the presence and concentration of various substances such as gases, particles, and microorganisms. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, air sampling is crucial for ensuring the safety and health of astronauts during space missions. Air samples are collected from spacecraft cabins, space suits, and the International Space Station (ISS) to monitor the levels of carbon dioxide, humidity, and other contaminants that could affect the crew's health and performance. Air sampling is also used to study the composition of planetary atmospheres and to detect signs of life on other planets. The samples are collected using specialized equipment such as air pumps, filters, and sorbent tubes, and are analyzed using various techniques such as gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
