Transistors

Transistors are semiconductor devices that can amplify or switch electronic signals. They are made of a material called a semiconductor, which is usually silicon. Transistors have three layers of material, called the emitter, base, and collector. By applying a small current to the base, a larger current can be allowed to flow between the emitter and collector. This makes transistors useful for amplifying signals, such as those used in radios and televisions. Transistors can also be used as switches, turning a circuit on or off by controlling the flow of current. They are essential components in modern electronics, including computers, smartphones, and satellites.
