Hygrometer

In space and astronautical engineering, a hygrometer is an instrument used to measure the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere or in a gas. It is an important tool for monitoring and controlling humidity levels in spacecraft and habitats, as well as for studying the water cycle on other planets. Hygrometers can be based on a variety of principles, including electrical, mechanical, and optical methods. Some common types of hygrometers used in space and astronautical engineering include capacitive, resistive, and chilled mirror hygrometers. Capacitive hygrometers measure changes in electrical capacitance caused by changes in humidity, while resistive hygrometers measure changes in electrical resistance. Chilled mirror hygrometers use a mirror that is cooled until dew forms on its surface, and then measure the temperature at which dew forms to determine the dew point temperature, which is related to the amount of water vapor in the air.
