Gearbox

In space and astronautical engineering, a gearbox is a mechanical device that transmits power from one rotating shaft to another. Gearboxes are commonly used in spacecraft and satellites to control the orientation and movement of solar panels, antennas, and other equipment. They are also used in rocket engines to control the flow of propellant and adjust the thrust. Gearboxes in space applications must be designed to withstand the harsh environment of space, including extreme temperatures, radiation, and vacuum. They must also be lightweight and compact to minimize the weight and size of the spacecraft or rocket. The design and testing of space gearboxes require specialized knowledge and expertise in mechanical engineering, materials science, and space technology.
