Gamma Ray Photon
A gamma ray photon is a high-energy photon with a wavelength shorter than 0.01 nanometers, corresponding to frequencies greater than 30 exahertz. Gamma ray photons are produced by nuclear reactions and radioactive decay in space, and can also be produced artificially by nuclear explosions and particle accelerators. Due to their high energy, gamma ray photons can penetrate through thick materials and cause ionization in matter, making them useful for medical imaging and cancer treatment. However, gamma ray photons can also be harmful to living organisms, causing DNA damage and radiation sickness. In space and astronautical engineering, gamma ray photons are studied for their effects on spacecraft and astronauts, and for their potential use in propulsion systems.
