Fusion Reaction
Fusion reaction is a process in which two atomic nuclei combine to form a heavier nucleus, releasing a large amount of energy in the process. In space and astronautical engineering, fusion reactions are of great interest as they have the potential to provide a nearly limitless source of energy for space exploration and colonization. The most promising fusion reaction for practical use is the fusion of deuterium and tritium, which produces helium and a high-energy neutron. However, achieving and sustaining the conditions necessary for fusion reactions to occur, such as high temperature and pressure, is a significant challenge. Research in fusion reactions is ongoing, with the goal of developing a practical and sustainable source of energy for space missions and beyond.
