Dental Implantology

Dental implantology is a branch of dentistry that deals with the replacement of missing teeth and their supporting structures with artificial prostheses that are anchored to the jawbone. The process involves the surgical placement of a titanium implant into the jawbone, which serves as a replacement for the root of the missing tooth. Once the implant has fused with the bone, an abutment is attached to the implant, which serves as a connector between the implant and the prosthetic tooth. Dental implantology requires a thorough understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the oral cavity, as well as the biomechanics of implant placement and restoration. It also involves the use of advanced imaging technologies, such as cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), to accurately plan and execute implant placement procedures.
