Fission Reactions

Fission reactions are nuclear reactions in which the nucleus of an atom is split into two or more smaller nuclei, along with the release of a large amount of energy. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, fission reactions are used as a source of power for spacecraft and space stations. The heat generated by the fission reaction is used to produce electricity, which can be used to power various systems on board the spacecraft. Fission reactions are also used to power nuclear rockets, which use the energy released by the reaction to heat a propellant and generate thrust. Fission reactions are highly efficient and can provide a large amount of power from a relatively small amount of fuel, making them an attractive option for long-duration space missions.
