Fiber Optic Cables
Fiber optic cables are a type of cable made up of thin strands of glass or plastic that use light to transmit data. In space and astronautical engineering, fiber optic cables are used for communication and data transmission between spacecraft, satellites, and ground stations. They are preferred over traditional copper cables because they are lighter, more durable, and can transmit data over longer distances without signal loss. Fiber optic cables are also immune to electromagnetic interference, making them ideal for use in space where radiation and other electromagnetic fields can disrupt communication signals. In addition, fiber optic cables are used in sensors for measuring temperature, pressure, and other physical parameters in spacecraft and satellites.
