Electronic Warfare
Electronic Warfare (EW) is the use of the electromagnetic spectrum to sense, protect, and communicate. It involves the use of electronic systems to detect, deny, disrupt, or deceive an adversary's use of the electromagnetic spectrum. EW includes three main components: Electronic Support (ES), Electronic Attack (EA), and Electronic Protection (EP). ES involves the use of electronic systems to detect and locate sources of electromagnetic radiation. EA involves the use of electronic systems to degrade or destroy an adversary's use of the electromagnetic spectrum. EP involves the use of electronic systems to protect friendly use of the electromagnetic spectrum. In space and astronautical engineering, EW is critical for protecting spacecraft and satellites from electronic threats such as jamming, spoofing, and hacking.
