Cyclic Voltammetry

Cyclic Voltammetry is an electrochemical technique used to study the redox properties of a chemical species. It involves applying a potential waveform to an electrochemical cell and measuring the resulting current. The potential waveform typically consists of a linear sweep from a starting potential to an ending potential, followed by a reverse sweep back to the starting potential. During the forward sweep, the potential is increased and the current is measured. During the reverse sweep, the potential is decreased and the current is measured again. The resulting plot of current versus potential is called a voltammogram. Cyclic Voltammetry can provide information about the thermodynamics and kinetics of redox reactions, as well as the diffusion coefficient and concentration of electroactive species.
