Diffusion

Diffusion is the process by which molecules or particles move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, diffusion plays an important role in the behavior of gases in spacecraft and in the design of life support systems. Diffusion is used to control the concentration of gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide in spacecraft, and to remove contaminants from the air. Diffusion is also important in the design of propulsion systems, where it is used to mix fuel and oxidizer to achieve efficient combustion. In addition, diffusion is used in the design of heat shields, where it is used to distribute heat evenly across the surface of the shield.
