Closed-Loop System

In space and astronautical engineering, a closed-loop system refers to a system where the output of a process is fed back into the system as an input, allowing for continuous monitoring and adjustment of the system's performance. This type of system is commonly used in spacecraft and space stations to regulate environmental conditions such as temperature, pressure, and oxygen levels. A closed-loop life support system is a critical component of long-duration space missions, as it allows astronauts to recycle and reuse resources such as water and air. The system typically includes components such as filters, pumps, and chemical processors to remove contaminants and maintain a stable environment. Closed-loop systems are also used in spacecraft propulsion systems, where the exhaust gases are recirculated back into the engine to increase efficiency.
