Environmental Conditions

Environmental conditions refer to the physical and atmospheric conditions that exist in space and affect spacecraft and their components. These conditions include temperature, radiation, vacuum, micrometeoroids, and electromagnetic fields. Temperature can vary greatly in space, from extreme heat to extreme cold, and can cause materials to expand or contract, affecting the performance of spacecraft components. Radiation can damage electronic components and affect the health of astronauts. The vacuum of space can cause outgassing of materials and affect the performance of seals and other components. Micrometeoroids can cause damage to spacecraft and pose a risk to astronauts during spacewalks. Electromagnetic fields can interfere with spacecraft electronics and communication systems.
