Circuit Breakers

In space and astronautical engineering, circuit breakers are automatic electrical switches designed to protect electrical circuits from damage caused by overload or short circuit. They are essential components of spacecraft electrical systems, as they prevent electrical fires and other hazards that could endanger the crew and the mission. Circuit breakers work by interrupting the flow of current when it exceeds a certain threshold, thus preventing damage to the circuit and the equipment it powers. They are designed to be resettable, so that they can be used multiple times if necessary. Circuit breakers are typically classified by their voltage rating, current rating, and trip characteristics, which determine how quickly they will trip in response to an overload or short circuit. They are also subject to rigorous testing and qualification procedures to ensure their reliability and safety in the harsh environment of space.
