Hazards


Hazards refer to any potential danger or risk that can cause harm or damage to spacecraft, crew, or mission objectives. Hazards can arise from various sources such as natural phenomena (e.g. radiation, micrometeoroids, space debris, solar flares), technical failures (e.g. propulsion system malfunction, electrical failure), or human error (e.g. incorrect operation, inadequate training). Hazards can have severe consequences, ranging from minor setbacks to catastrophic failures that can result in loss of life, mission failure, or damage to the environment. Therefore, hazard identification, assessment, and mitigation are critical aspects of space and astronautical engineering to ensure the safety and success of space missions.
