Casing

In space and astronautical engineering, casing refers to the outer shell or protective covering of a spacecraft or rocket engine. The casing is designed to withstand the extreme conditions of spaceflight, including high temperatures, pressure differentials, and radiation exposure. It also serves to protect the internal components of the spacecraft or engine from damage caused by debris or other hazards encountered during launch or in orbit. Casing materials are typically chosen for their strength, durability, and resistance to corrosion and other forms of degradation. Common materials used for spacecraft and rocket engine casings include aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, and composite materials such as carbon fiber reinforced polymers.
