Cardiovascular System

The cardiovascular system is the network of organs and vessels responsible for the circulation of blood and nutrients throughout the body. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, the cardiovascular system is of particular importance due to the effects of microgravity on the body. In microgravity, the heart does not have to work as hard to pump blood, which can lead to a decrease in cardiovascular fitness and muscle mass. Astronauts must engage in regular exercise to maintain their cardiovascular health while in space. Additionally, the cardiovascular system is important for the design of spacesuits and spacecraft, as these must be able to maintain appropriate levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the astronaut's blood.
