Carbon Dioxide Removal

Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) is the process of capturing and removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere or other sources such as industrial flue gases. CDR technologies are important in mitigating climate change by reducing the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. There are various CDR methods including natural methods such as afforestation and ocean fertilization, and technological methods such as direct air capture and carbon capture and storage (CCS). Direct air capture involves the use of machines to capture carbon dioxide from the air, while CCS involves capturing carbon dioxide from industrial processes and storing it underground. CDR technologies have the potential to play a significant role in achieving global climate goals, but they also face challenges such as high costs, energy requirements, and potential environmental impacts.
