Carbon Capture

Carbon capture is the process of capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from various sources such as power plants, industrial processes, and transportation, and storing them in a way that prevents their release into the atmosphere. The captured CO2 can be stored in underground geological formations, oceans, or used for enhanced oil recovery. Carbon capture technologies include post-combustion capture, pre-combustion capture, and oxy-fuel combustion. Post-combustion capture involves capturing CO2 from flue gases after fossil fuels are burned. Pre-combustion capture involves capturing CO2 before fossil fuels are burned. Oxy-fuel combustion involves burning fossil fuels in an atmosphere of pure oxygen, which produces a flue gas that is mostly CO2. Carbon capture is an important technology for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change.
