Azimuth

Azimuth is the angular measurement in the horizontal plane, usually measured in degrees, indicating the direction of a celestial body or other object from the observer's position. In space and astronautical engineering, azimuth is an important parameter used in spacecraft navigation and control. It is used to determine the direction of a spacecraft relative to a reference point, such as the Earth or a target destination. Azimuth is also used in the design and operation of ground-based tracking systems, such as radar and optical telescopes, which are used to track and communicate with spacecraft. In addition, azimuth is used in the design and operation of launch vehicles, which must be launched in a specific direction to achieve the desired orbit.
