Apollo 11

Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon. It was launched on July 16, 1969, and the spacecraft consisted of three parts: the Command Module (CM), the Service Module (SM), and the Lunar Module (LM). The CM and SM remained in lunar orbit while the LM, carrying astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin, landed on the Moon's surface on July 20, 1969. Armstrong famously declared 'That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind' as he became the first human to set foot on the Moon. The mission lasted a total of 8 days, 3 hours, 18 minutes, and 35 seconds.
