Underground Habitats
Underground habitats refer to the structures built beneath the surface of a celestial body, such as the Moon or Mars, to provide shelter and living space for astronauts during long-duration missions. These habitats are designed to protect astronauts from the harsh radiation, extreme temperatures, and micrometeoroids that are prevalent on the surface. They can be constructed using a variety of materials, including regolith, which is the loose soil and rock that covers the surface of the Moon and other bodies. Underground habitats can be connected to each other through tunnels, creating a network of living and working spaces. They can also be designed to include life support systems, such as air and water recycling, to sustain the crew for extended periods of time.
