Thermal Infrared Radiometer

A Thermal Infrared Radiometer (TIR) is a device used to measure the temperature of an object by detecting the infrared radiation emitted by it. In space and astronautical engineering, TIRs are commonly used to measure the temperature of the Earth's surface and atmosphere, as well as other planets and celestial bodies. TIRs are particularly useful for studying the Earth's climate, as they can provide information on the distribution of heat across the planet's surface and the movement of heat in the atmosphere. They are also used in the design and testing of spacecraft, as they can help engineers to understand how different materials and components will behave under different thermal conditions.
