Two-Body Problem

In space and astronautical engineering, the Two-Body Problem refers to the mathematical problem of predicting the motion of two celestial bodies that are gravitationally bound to each other. The problem assumes that the two bodies are point masses, and that no other forces act upon them except for their mutual gravitational attraction. The solution to the Two-Body Problem involves determining the position and velocity of each body at any given time, and can be used to predict future positions and velocities. This problem is fundamental to spaceflight, as it is used to calculate the trajectories of spacecraft and satellites, and to plan orbital maneuvers. The Two-Body Problem is also important in the study of celestial mechanics, as it provides a simplified model for understanding the motion of planets, moons, and other celestial bodies.
