Thermal Conductivity

Thermal conductivity is the property of a material to conduct heat. In space and astronautical engineering, thermal conductivity is an important factor in designing spacecraft and their components. The ability of a material to conduct heat affects the temperature distribution within a spacecraft and can impact the performance and longevity of its systems. Materials with high thermal conductivity are often used in spacecraft components that generate heat, such as engines and electronics, to efficiently dissipate heat and prevent overheating. On the other hand, materials with low thermal conductivity are used in insulation to minimize heat transfer and maintain stable temperatures within the spacecraft. Thermal conductivity is also a critical factor in designing spacesuits, as they must protect astronauts from extreme temperatures in space.
