Terrestrial Planets
Terrestrial planets are a type of planet that are primarily composed of silicate rocks or metals. They are also known as rocky planets and are located closest to the sun in our solar system. Terrestrial planets have a solid surface and are generally smaller in size compared to gas giants. They have a higher density and a thinner atmosphere, which is mostly composed of nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. The four terrestrial planets in our solar system are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. These planets have unique geological features such as impact craters, volcanoes, and tectonic plates. The study of terrestrial planets is important in understanding the formation and evolution of our solar system, as well as the potential for habitability on other planets.
