Stopband Attenuation
Stopband attenuation refers to the amount of signal loss or reduction in amplitude that occurs in the frequency range where a filter is designed to block or attenuate signals. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, stopband attenuation is an important parameter in the design and performance of filters used in communication systems, radar systems, and other electronic systems that operate in the space environment. Stopband attenuation is typically specified as the ratio of the input signal power to the output signal power in the stopband frequency range, expressed in decibels (dB). A high stopband attenuation is desirable in order to minimize interference from unwanted signals and noise, and to ensure that the desired signal is not distorted or degraded. Achieving high stopband attenuation often requires careful design and optimization of the filter's frequency response, as well as the use of high-quality components and materials.
