Sorbent Canister
A sorbent canister is a device used in spacecraft to remove carbon dioxide and other contaminants from the air. It contains a sorbent material that adsorbs the contaminants as the air passes through the canister. The sorbent material is typically a bed of activated charcoal or zeolite, which has a high surface area and can adsorb large amounts of gas. Sorbent canisters are used in the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) of spacecraft to maintain a safe and habitable environment for the crew. They are also used in spacesuits to remove carbon dioxide exhaled by the astronaut. Sorbent canisters need to be periodically replaced or regenerated to maintain their effectiveness.
