Sorbent Material

Sorbent materials are substances that are used to absorb or adsorb liquids or gases. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, sorbent materials are used in life support systems to remove carbon dioxide, humidity, and other contaminants from the air. These materials are critical for maintaining a habitable environment for astronauts during long-duration space missions. Sorbent materials can be categorized as either regenerable or non-regenerable. Regenerable sorbents can be reused after being regenerated, while non-regenerable sorbents are discarded after use. The effectiveness of sorbent materials is determined by their capacity, selectivity, and kinetics.
