Selective Surface

Selective surface is a type of surface coating that has the ability to selectively absorb or reflect specific wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, selective surfaces are commonly used in thermal control systems to regulate the temperature of spacecraft and other space-based equipment. By selectively absorbing or reflecting certain wavelengths of radiation, these surfaces can help to maintain a stable temperature within the spacecraft, protecting sensitive equipment from damage caused by extreme heat or cold. Selective surfaces are also used in solar energy systems, where they can be used to selectively absorb or reflect specific wavelengths of sunlight in order to maximize energy efficiency.
