Safety Risk Management
In the context of aerospace engineering, Safety Risk Management (SRM) is a systematic approach to managing safety, including the necessary organizational structures, accountabilities, policies, and procedures. It involves identifying and assessing hazards, then applying remedial measures to mitigate the risk associated with those hazards. In aerospace, this could involve risks related to aircraft design, manufacturing processes, flight operations, air traffic management, and maintenance procedures. The goal of SRM is to ensure that the risks associated with each identified hazard are controlled to an acceptable level. This process is continuous and should be integrated into the overall management system of any aerospace organization. It is a critical component of a Safety Management System (SMS), which is a systematic approach to managing safety, including the necessary organizational structures, accountabilities, policies, and procedures.
