Band

In space and astronautical engineering, a band refers to a range of frequencies within the electromagnetic spectrum that is used for communication and sensing purposes. Bands are typically categorized based on their frequency range, such as L-band, S-band, X-band, and Ku-band. Each band has its own unique characteristics and is used for specific applications. For example, L-band is commonly used for satellite navigation systems, while X-band is used for high-resolution imaging and radar systems. The choice of band depends on factors such as the required data rate, range, and resolution. In addition, the allocation of bands is regulated by international organizations such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to prevent interference between different systems.
