Relative Humidity
Relative humidity is the ratio of the amount of water vapor present in the air to the maximum amount of water vapor that the air can hold at a specific temperature and pressure. In space and astronautical engineering, relative humidity is an important factor to consider in the design and operation of spacecraft and habitats. Maintaining the proper relative humidity level is crucial for the health and comfort of astronauts, as well as for the proper functioning of equipment and experiments. High humidity levels can lead to condensation and corrosion, while low humidity levels can cause static electricity buildup and drying out of materials. Therefore, spacecraft and habitats are equipped with humidity control systems to regulate the relative humidity level. These systems may include dehumidifiers, humidifiers, and moisture sensors.
