Redundant Power Systems

Redundant power systems refer to the use of multiple power sources or components in a spacecraft or satellite to ensure continuous and reliable power supply. This is achieved by duplicating critical power components and distributing the load across them, so that if one component fails, the other(s) can take over seamlessly. Redundant power systems are essential in space missions where power loss can result in catastrophic consequences, such as loss of communication, data, or even the entire mission. The redundancy can be achieved through various means, such as redundant solar arrays, batteries, power distribution units, and power converters. The design of redundant power systems requires careful consideration of factors such as power requirements, weight, size, and cost, as well as the reliability and compatibility of the components.
