RAM
RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It is a type of computer memory that allows data to be accessed randomly, meaning any byte of memory can be accessed without touching the preceding bytes. RAM is volatile memory, which means that it requires a constant flow of electricity to maintain the data stored in it. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, RAM is used in spacecraft and satellites to store and process data. Due to the harsh conditions of space, radiation-hardened RAM is used to protect against radiation-induced errors. The amount of RAM used in spacecraft and satellites is typically much lower than that used in terrestrial computers due to the high cost and limited power availability in space.
