Radio Frequency Links

Radio Frequency (RF) Links refer to the wireless communication systems that use radio frequency waves to transmit and receive data between two or more points. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, RF links are used for communication between spacecraft and ground stations, as well as between different spacecraft in space. RF links are preferred over other communication methods in space due to their ability to transmit data over long distances without the need for physical connections. However, RF links are subject to interference from other sources, such as solar flares and other radio signals, which can affect their reliability. To mitigate these issues, RF links are designed with redundancy and error correction mechanisms to ensure reliable communication. In addition, RF links are designed to operate within specific frequency bands allocated by international regulatory bodies to avoid interference with other communication systems.
