Power Generation

Power Generation in the context of space and astronautical engineering refers to the process of generating electrical power in space. This is a critical aspect of space missions as electrical power is required to operate various systems and instruments on spacecraft. Power can be generated using solar panels, fuel cells, radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs), and batteries. Solar panels are the most commonly used power source in space as they are lightweight, reliable, and can generate power for long periods of time. Fuel cells are also used to generate power by converting hydrogen and oxygen into water and electricity. RTGs use the heat generated from the decay of radioactive isotopes to generate electricity. Batteries are used as a backup power source and to provide power during periods of low sunlight. The efficiency and reliability of power generation systems are critical to the success of space missions.
