Positive Displacement Compressors

Positive Displacement Compressors are machines that increase the pressure of a gas by reducing its volume through a mechanical process. They work by trapping a fixed amount of gas in a chamber and then reducing the volume of that chamber. This reduction in volume causes an increase in pressure, which forces the gas out of the chamber and into a discharge pipe. Positive Displacement Compressors are commonly used in space and astronautical engineering applications, such as in the compression of breathing air for astronauts or in the pressurization of rocket fuel tanks.
