Planet Formation

Planet formation is the process by which planets form from the disk of gas and dust that surrounds a young star. The process begins with the accumulation of dust particles, which grow through collisions to form larger bodies called planetesimals. These planetesimals then continue to collide and merge, eventually forming protoplanets. Protoplanets can continue to grow through collisions and accretion of gas, eventually becoming fully formed planets. The exact details of planet formation are still not fully understood, but current theories suggest that it is a complex and dynamic process that can take millions of years.
