Ozone Layer

The ozone layer is a region of the Earth's stratosphere that contains a high concentration of ozone molecules. It is responsible for absorbing most of the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which is harmful to life on Earth. The ozone layer is located approximately 10-50 kilometers above the Earth's surface and is primarily composed of ozone gas. The depletion of the ozone layer is caused by the release of certain chemicals, such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), which react with ozone and break it down. This depletion can lead to increased levels of UV radiation reaching the Earth's surface, which can have harmful effects on human health and the environment.
